FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do you require a contract for service?
No; we do not require a contract for our services. However, lawn care is a recurring service which means we will continue to perform the regularly scheduled service until you cancel or stop your service. Although we will treat you as a lifelong customer, you can cancel your service at any time with no cancellation fee.
Are you insured?
Yes; we are a fully-insured limited liability company. Specifically, we maintain liability insurance coverage for personal injuries and property damage. You can rest easy knowing we are covered if something unfortunate happens.
Do you come on the weekends?
We do our best to schedule your lawn care services on weekdays. Occasionally, due to weather or scheduling, we may need to visit your property on a Saturday. We try to keep Saturday visits to a minimum so you can enjoy your lawn as much as possible on the weekends.
What kind of lawn mowers do you use?
At Lime Green Lawn Care we use well-maintained commercial-grade riding and push mowers to mow your lawn.
Are sharp lawnmower blades important?
Yes, a sharp lawnmower blade will provide a sharp, clean cut of each blade of grass allowing the grass to seal quickly and resist disease. A poorly maintained mower with a dull blade will rip the grass, rather than cut the grass. At Lime Green Lawn Care, we routinely sharpen our mower blades for optimal performance.
Should I remove grass clippings?
Grass clippings should be left on the lawn when mowing. Grasscycling is the term for leaving grass clippings on the lawn after mowing and is an environmentally beneficial practice. Grass clippings should be left on the lawn to decompose and add nutrients to the soil.
Should I water my lawn?
Watering your lawn is the key to preserving its lushness and beauty. In the absence of rain during the growing season, a lawn may need 1-2 inches of water to meet the needs of your lawn. Infrequent, deep watering is best and only as needed. Morning watering is best to allow grass to dry. Late day watering may promote disease activity in summer months because of insufficient time for the lawn to dry.
What can I do to make my lawn healthier?
The two biggest things you can do for your lawn are to establish a regular mowing schedule and ensure your lawn receives enough water. You should mow at least once a week during growth periods. As for watering, you don’t want to over water because that will set the grass up for disease problems. Ideally, your sprinkler system should cover the lawn to water deeply, encourage deep root growth, and make your lawn less susceptible to drought.
What is core aeration and how is it beneficial?
Core aeration is the process of removing small cores of soil, called plugs, from the lawn to create small holes. These holes allow air, water, fertilizer and soil amendments to get down to root level. This practice is utilized to reduce compaction in high traffic areas as well. All lawns can benefit from aeration. You should also consider aerating your lawn if your lawn does not green up after fertilizing or browns easily in high heat conditions. Lawns with poor drainage or standing water after a rain can also benefit from aeration.
What is overseeding your lawn and when is the best time to overseed?
Overseeding is the process of spreading grass seed on an existing lawn. You may wish to overseed your lawn to create a dense covering of grass or to change your lawn’s appearance or tolerance. To be sure the new seed germinates and grows as quickly as possible, overseeding a lawn should be done during optimal growing conditions with plenty of sun, warmth, and rain. Spring and late fall are typically the best times to overseed.
Why combine aeration with overseeding your lawn?
The holes created by core aeration allow good seed-to-soil contact, which is beneficial for germination (the process of a seed becoming a plant).
